Welcome to Suderbyn Permaculture Ecovillage!
What is Suderbyn?
We are an intentional community of Swedes and internationals, working and living together in a manner that is sustainable and striving towards self-sufficiency.
Within Suderbyn we grow our own food; develop the village with eco-building projects; maintain animals (chickens, ducks, rabbits and cats); maintain a functioning Suderbyn car-pool and bicycle-pool.
From the Suderbyn office we are engaged with a number of different projects spanning a range of organisations. Such projects link us to other eco-villages through regional and international networks; international volunteer schemes such as the European Voluntary Service (EVS) and Service Civil International (SCI); as well as other projects with a focus on sustainability and environmentalism.
Where is Suderbyn?
Suderbyn is located on the island of Gotland, in the middle of the Baltic Sea, east of the Swedish mainland. We are 8km south of Visby along the west coast of Gotland, in between Vibble and Tofta.
Who is Suderbyn?
Suderbyn currently has 7 part-time employees (5 of whom live in Suderbyn); 3 long-term EVS volunteers from other European countries, all living and volunteering in Suderbyn; and, a further 6 ecovillage residents who work outside of the community.
